August Blog Challenge

Hello all!!!

Sorry it has been soooooooooo long since my last update. I finished my adventures across the ocean and have since returned home and been busy busy busy!

This post is inspired from a blog challnge from Skrap 'n Chat (www.skrapnchat.com). Lisa is hosting a monthly challenge. I'm a little late on this, but I figure better late then never!

I've had lots of firsts in my life but I'm going to talk about a recent one. My first REAL job.

When I returned home to NB I was looking to start my Full Time Career as a Pharmacy Technician. I had heard that a local pharmacy was hiring and I took my resume in not thinking much about it. Then shortly after I received a call for an interview and was lucky enough to be hired with in a week! It was so exciting, I was starting a newish adventure. I have worked in a Pharmacy for years but this was at a new store, new co-workers and bosses.
I love being there Full time, earning money, working towards getting health benefits and all those perks. It may not seem exciting to others, but to me it's the next step towards my husband and I getting a place, saving money for our future and as a bonus I love the job!

Lil adventure

I have not been able to get any Layouts done over the past week and a half. I did one tonight for Scrapbuilders at APOS but will keep it to myself until the reveal happens. I got some cards done and mailed off but sadly did not take any photos. Last weekend we had gorgeous weather here, for Thursday, Friday, Sat, and Sunday. So while I was off for Saturday Cyril and I headed to Durham which is about a 15 min train ride away from here. We visited the Durham Cathedral which was really big and pretty. We walked the streets grabbed some lunch/supper at a pub called Varsity. Then grabbed some dessert from an ice cream truck we passed.

Theses are some of the pics we took while on our adventure. Work has been very busy, lots of ice cream going out the doors with the warm weather.
I'm off til Saturday so I had a mishmash day and got some stuff done, then I'm volunteering for the next 2 days, which will be my last.
Cyril and I leave a week from today to go to London to visit with friends before we go to Greece. So before we leave I have to pack and also start "the big packing" of stuff I'm not using any more. Scary to think I'll be home in 4 weeks!!!
Have a great week!!

Sorry I've been slacking....

Since I've last posted lots has happened. I've done a bunch of scrapbooking which I will share, we went to see Jeff Dunham in Sheffield, we've had a sad event in my family and right now I have company!! :D

These first 2 pages I completed for the Scrapbuilders Challenge for the month of April at APOS. The pages are for 2 different teams and are a bit similar.

Page number 3 was done for a similar challenge at SI for the month of April.

Cheryl at APOS is on the Design Team and gave us the challenge in April to make our own gift tags. I made a total of 6 in the month. Here are photos of 2 of the ones I made. These were fun to do and I hope to make some more in the future!

This final page I did the beginning of May for a May Challenge at SNC. The challenge was "Spring Cleaning", to do a challenge that you have not completed from another month or crop. Good way to play catch up. I like the way this LO turned out. I had a lot of fun making the flower and plan to make more this month.

The middle of last month (April 20th) we made our way to Sheffield to see Jeff Dunham. We spent the afternoon exploring the city and even took a ride on their huge "tourist Ferris Wheel" to get a view of the city and hear about some of the attractions. That evening we attended the show and laughed the whole night! I have some photos but they are on Cyril's computer so sadly I can't post them yet. Following that fun adventure near the end of the week we had Cyril's Birthday lunch with our friends at Lau's 202 Chinese Buffet. We had a great time with them all.
His Birthday weekend continued when Saturday morning we headed out Big Ball bowling before 1pm (because it's cheap bowling before 1). I was HORRIBLE at it, although my score did improve after each string. On Sunday we spent the day together and Cyril got his few gifts from me and we had our fancy cupcakes from Fenwick's.
May 1st was National Scrapbook Day so I spent the day online doing some challenges and scrapping my little heart out. Late that night I got a call from my parents telling me that my Grandmother had passed away suddenly that night. It was really hard for me as I was not able to go home due to the expenses and also, my sis and cousin were due to arrive in England the following Friday. It was very hard not be home with my family during this tough time but I also was glad I got to see some of my family shortly after. My family also was great and chatted with me every day on Skype to keep me up to date. My Best Friend also was great to me and even transferred the VHS copy of the service on to DVD so my sis could bring it to me to watch while I'm here. Love you all!! THANKS! xoxo

My sis and cousin have been here since the 7th and we've had lots of fun. We've gone bowling, they've shopped while I've worked. Us 3 girls went to Dublin for 3 days and 4 nights. We had a relaxing day today and are going to watch a movie shortly. Will be sad to see them go but am sure they have enjoyed their experience here! Well that's been my life for the last lil while! Hope all is well with you and I'll try my best to keep it up to date again!

Update on Scrapbooking and life!

Lots to update about the last month for me. Cyril and I had company in our lil flat for 2 weeks at the end of March!! We had my parents come for a visit! We had a great time with them and I hope that they enjoyed their visit as well. It started with me taking the train down to London to pick them up at the airport. We then toured for the day around London to see all the famous sites. Here they are in front of the Buckingham Palace during the end of the changing of the guard.

We then proceeded on to have lunch at a little Sandwich place called Pickles! Great food by the way. We then took a little walk on to see Westminster Abbey (pictured below), the Parliment, Big Ben and the London Eye. We stayed the night in a hotel and the next day took the train up to Newcastle where Cyril greeted us.We visited in Newcastle for a few days while I worked as well and Cyril played tour guide. We then trotted off to Dublin, Ireland for a few nights. We stayed in the city at a really nice hotel and took the tram in to the centre of the city as needed. The first day Mom and I went to visit the National Museum of Decorating Arts and History while Cyril and Dad went to the Guinness Factory for a tour. We hate out twice at this pub (Fitzgerald's). It had really good food and was also well priced.
On our second day in Dublin Mom and I took a tour of the Long Room at Trinity College and got to see the Book of Kells.
Mom and Dad were in Dublin one more day while Cyril and I headed up to Belfast to visit for a day. Upon returning back to Newcastle Mom and Dad wen to visit the Life Museum, visited the coast and also took a trip up to Edinburgh for a day. I worked a bit but had a Easter Sunday off to spend with everyone. Dad made his yummy chicken curry for our Easter Supper! Yummmmmy!

Scrapbooking now!
This first page was done for APOS, a Blind Scrap. I'm given directions about the sizes of the paper and bit about the placement and voila...this is out came about!
This next page was done for the Scrapbuilders Challenge at APOS for the month of March.

A challenge from APOS to copy or "scraplift" one of your previous Layouts.

This too was a page for Scrapbuilders in March for another team.

During March APOS held a Weekend Crop so there was some challenges posted for those of us who were left behind. The challenge was to pick a number which then corresponded to a topic in the Technique section. We then either had to do the technique or project, use the title of the topic or use something about that post. I took the title of the topic (Next Year) and used it in my title. This year (2009) we were in Boston for our Honeymoon, Next year (2010) we will be in Greece to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.

I've done all my cleaning for the week!!! So now I can spend the rest of today(Sunday) and tomorrow doing some scrapbooking, card making and tag making! I will hopefully post some of the work this week. Wish me luck! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I'm Back....

Sorry I've been gone for some time! Got lots of fun stuff to show off and tell you about! Here are some of my pages I've worked on the past few weeks. This first one was from a Sketch of the Week challenge from Icecheeks at APOS.
Right at home was just something I came up with for these pics of Cyril..what do you think??
12! was a Random Challenge given to us at SI. There were 10 items picked by the members and the challenge was to use all the items on one page. I did it, and it was even on an 8x8! Go me!

This LO will be for my 12x12 album of 2009. They are pics I oculd not fit in my 8x8 album but still wanted to scrap them. I did the LO from a Blind Scrap at SI.

Perfect Pair we are. I particiapted in Scrapbuilders during February at APOS, this the LO for one team while the next LO was for another team that month.

On the last Friday of every month APOS has a crop circle where last months winner gets to post a challenge for us to use certain things on our LO and then they pic a new winner. This was a tough one, Funnygal gave us 9 things to do! WOW! I like how this LO turned out!

FINALLY!!!! Got to go to the Lady Gaga concert on Thrusday March 4th. She came to the Metro Radio Arena here in Newcastle. She sang all the songs I wanted to hear and of ocurse more.

On Friday I got to go in for an orientation at the Oxfam Charity Shop where I wil be volunteering. We got to see around the shop and behind the scenes and get some direction as to what I will be doing once I start on Monday. I'm very excited for tomorrow. I also got a job! YEAH! For the time being it's 10 hours per week for a 6 week contract at Thornton's, a chocolate shop! Tomorrow is my first day, I go there after I volunteer. I'm going in to sign some papers and probably start my training. I'll know more tomorrow night. Kind of nervous but also very excited for my day tomorrow.

More Scrapbooking...

Last Tuesday night Cyril and I went out to celebrate Valentine's day. We were planning on going to Gekko, but came upon a new Chinese Buffet so decided to try it out. I loved it, the only downside was no tap water and no refills on pop. Loved the food and hope to take my parents there when they visit. After we headed over to see Valentine's Day the movie which I really liked. After we were off to our friend Rahul's place. It was his Birthday so we went over to celebrate with friends with drinks, munchies and a yummy cake. In the photo L to R: Rahul, me, Vasiliki, and Leonie. On Sunday we ventured out to go visit the FREE Discovery Museum. We got side tracked on the way and found the Life Science Center, which was not FREE but was money well spent. We go to see 3 "shows" as well as visit the exhibits. This photo is me "walking" like a reptile on the hot desert sand. It showed you where to put your hands and feet and you lifted the opposite hand and foot at the same time. Looks funny!
This past week I completed 2 Birthday cards, I didn't get pics of them but they are in the mail on the way to their recipients. I did get the pics of the 2 LOs I completed. The first was for a crop at SI. I used a sketch from The Pagemaps site, Feb 2010 page
This LO was for APOS, it was from a Blind Scrap that Icecheeks posted earlier this month that I had not completed so I tackled it last night.

This evening I hope to watch some more of the Olympics as I work on a Scrapbuilders LO from APOS, I have a few days to complete it.
Today I went to drop of an application to volunteer at Oxfam which is down the road. I have an interview with the manager on Friday so hope to start volunteering there soon! Wish me luck!

Out for a stroll....

As I sat and watched the Olypmics last night online I decided to work on my album some more. I got 2 more pages done.
This yellow one I did following a Sketch from APOS forum (see blinkie on the side).

Over the weekend Cyril and I had planned to go to a Free Museum on Saturday, but Cyril woke up feeling under the weather on Saturday so we decided to lay it low in hopes that he would feel more up to it on Sunday. So when we got up on Sunday the weather was decent so we decdied to venture to a near by park instead to enjoy the outdoors rather then be cooped up in the Museum on the nice day. So now we plan on going another weekend. Here are some of the photots I caught while at the park.

Cheers and have a great day. Happy Pancake Day (Shrove's Tuesday). We are heading out to a movie and dinner for our Valentine's Celebration and then out to celebrate a friend's Birthday.

Fun stuff

I had a very productive day yesterday, got 4 pages done for my 8x8 Honeymoon album! Having lots of fun with it and it's going to be finished really soon!

Also had an expensive day today. Went to the train station and bought some tickets. Cyril and I are going to see Jeff Dunham in Sheffield, which is about a 3 hour train ride away. Then I also needed to pick up the tickets for me to go to London and get my parents and bring them back here and for them to return to London for their plane home. One step closer to them being here! :D
Hope to get more pages finished tonight and will be posting them this weekend. No plans for Valentine's on Sunday. We are going out Tuesday instead, to avoid all the crowds and we want to go to a movie so Tuesday is cheap day. Got save money where we can! lol You have any plans?
Off to get a snack! Ciao for now!

Got some exciting news today! My Mom and Dad just booked their flights. They are coming to England to visit Cyril and I! Can't wait for their visit. They will be here in 6 weeks and are staying for 2 weeks with us. We hope to take them to Dublin, Ireland as well as Edinburgh (sp?), Scotland. I'm also having more visitors, my sis and cousin are coming the beginning of May and one of my best friends will be here mid-June. Love having visitors!

Here is some of my work....

Well I have been scrapping over the past few days and have finally got started on my Honeymoon album. It is my first 8x8 I've ever done. Kind of fun but a little challenging at first. I'm so used to putting more on my page and have to learn to cut back a bit.

I also got a few Valentine's Day cards done which I will be placing in the mail soon!

Cyril and I had a good weekend. We got out to the gym on Saturday where he played some football with the guys and I did a workout in the gym. Haven't been to the gym since October so it felt good to get back there. Also we headed down to the river to look at the bridges, we took some pics as well. Here are few:

That's all for now. Did learn a lesson today on this blog creating...upload pics first...then type around! lol
